    • If two motors are used on forward as well as rear it would become AWD
  • The layer 2 has its CPU and electronics, It is smart enough to be able to handle ADAS level 2 task and tata says that it would be able to deal with Level 2+ tasks as well. Know What ADAS is by watching the video below. This layer also gives it capabilities such as vehicle to vehicle charging (V2V)and vehicle to device (V2D) charging, which you can use to charge your gadgets and another vehicle in distress.
  • The layer 3 has its chasis, The chasis is so strong and flexible that TATA claims that it is ready for GNCAP 5 star and BNCAP 5 star ratings. Who should buy an Electric vehicle

One who thinks about the Environment and finds the refuelling a petrol vehicle a big expense can think about buying an electric vehicle. But lets break out everything for you from cost benefit to environment benefits

Are there any cost benefits in buying an EV

Lets assume you buy Tata punch ev for Rs 12 lakh, same thing in petrol you will easily get in Rs 8 lakh. So initially you are spending 4 lakh extra to buy this EV. Now according to top results on google running an EV for 1 km costs approximately Rs 0.60/- while running a petrol vehicle for 1 km costs around Rs 5/-. We are considering the fuel and recharging costs only and assuming that service cost would be the same. Now to cover you extra spending of Rs 4 lakh you have to run your EV for almost 90000 km. After your vehicle has run 90000km you would be saving some bucks. But don’t forget to compensate the time value of money, Because as per the rule of 72 if the interest rates that your money can fetch is 8% then your money doubles in 9 years.

Are the EVs good for Environment

First of all India is making only 40% electricity from renewable sources and rest 60% comes from burning coal. So if you are running an EV then don’t be in a state of mind that you are doing something good for environment, you are still polluting it. Maybe not the city you live in or you drive through but some other place where coal is burnt to give you electricity. But don’t be discouraged because there is brighter side too. First India is working towards increasing its share of Renewable energy and Second burning petrol and diesel is much worse. You ask why? because according to a study extracting, processing and transporting the petrol/diesel also causes lots of harm to the environment, on the other hand transporting electricity is nearly non polluting activity.

So If you buy an EV you are for sure saving the environment to some extent assuming using a private vehicle is inevitable. According to the Tata ev website if you run your vehicle daily for 40 kms for 5 years you will save so much environment that is saved by 600 fully grown trees.

Are the EVs practical in India / Does India has Infrastructure for EVS

Frankly speaking as of now India doesn’t have enough charging points to facilitate long distance EV usage. Big cities like Mumbai and Delhi do have charging stations which ranges from 10-100 in numbers but tier 2 cities has 0 charging points.

If you are going to use your ev upto 200-250 km for to and fro journey then it is OK assuming you can charge it at your home or parking. But for long distance travels EVs are not a viable option.

The good thing is that Indian Government and some Private players are actively working to give India state of art charging infrastructure. Soon there would be charging stations in Hotel parkings, Fuel stations, Parkings at major places and lots of privately operated charging points.
