Tata Harrier and Safari Achieve Five-Star Safety Rating in first ever BNCAP Crash Tests

Safety Triumph for Tata Motors

In a groundbreaking achievement, Tata Motors has set a new safety benchmark with its recently launched SUV duo, the Harrier and Safari facelifts. Both models secured a remarkable five-star rating in the India-specific Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) crash tests, marking them as the inaugural vehicles to undergo scrutiny by the BNCAP authority.

Model Features: Unveiling the Safety Arsenal

Based on the OMEGARC architecture derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform, the Harrier and Safari facelifts boast a comprehensive safety suite. The SUVs are equipped with seven airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Hill Start Control (HSC), three-point seatbelts, ISOFIX mounts, seatbelt retractor and pretensioners, 360-degree surround camera, blind-spot monitor, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology.

Industry Recognition: Pioneering Safety Standards

Previously, both models earned the distinction of being the highest-rated SUVs in the Global New Car Assessment Programme (GNCAP) safety tests. The recent five-star rating under BNCAP further solidifies Tata Motors’ commitment to elevating safety standards in the automotive industry.

Company Perspective: Emphasizing Safety in DNA

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., expressed the significance of the Bharat-NCAP certification. He highlighted that the Bharat-NCAP provides customers with an objective score to assess vehicle safety accurately. Chandra acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the government, regulatory bodies, and the automotive industry in advancing safety standards. He emphasized Tata Motors’ unwavering commitment to vehicle safety and celebrated the prestigious five-star rating as a testament to this commitment.

A Milestone for Safer Roads Ahead

The five-star safety rating for the Harrier and Safari facelifts underscores Tata Motors’ dedication to prioritizing safety in its vehicles. As informed consumers increasingly value safety in their vehicle choices, Tata Motors sets a precedent for the industry, encouraging a broader shift towards safer transportation on Indian roads.
